Acceptable use

takeovr is a tool that listens to audio on your machine, reads your own screen, and shows you model output in a window excluded from screen capture. Every one of those capabilities is legitimate in some settings and prohibited in others, and the line is drawn by the people running the conversation you are in — not by us.

You are responsible for whether you may use it

Before using takeovr in any given call, exam or meeting, it is on you to know the rules that apply. In particular:

• Recording consent. Many jurisdictions require all parties to a conversation to consent to it being recorded or transcribed. Some require only one. takeovr does not know which applies to you.
• Employer policy. Plenty of organisations prohibit third-party tools that process call audio, screen contents or customer data. Installing this on a work machine may breach that policy on its own.
• Exam and certification rules. Essentially every proctored exam, certification and academic assessment prohibits outside assistance. Using takeovr in one is misconduct whether or not it is detected, and the consequences — a failed exam, a revoked credential, an academic integrity finding — fall on you.
• Interview conditions. If you have been told an assessment must be completed unaided, using takeovr breaks that agreement.

What you may not use it for

You may not use takeovr, or any licence we issue you, to:

• Record or transcribe anyone in circumstances where doing so is unlawful where you or they are located.
• Capture, process or exfiltrate information you are not authorised to access — including a screen belonging to someone else, or data you are handling under a confidentiality obligation that forbids it.
• Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your own capabilities in a way that causes someone financial or professional harm.
• Circumvent an accessibility, security or integrity control other than the screen-capture exclusion the product openly implements.
• Harass, stalk or surveil a specific individual.
• Resell, sublicense or redistribute the software or a licence key.

What we can and cannot enforce

We want to be straightforward about this. takeovr is bring-your-own-key software that runs entirely on your machine — your audio, your screen contents and your prompts go directly to the model provider whose key you entered, and never to us. We therefore have no ability to observe what you use it for, and no filtering that could prevent a prohibited use.

What we can do is stop selling to someone. If we become aware — through a report, a legal demand, or your own communications with us — that an account is being used for something on the list above, we may decline to renew or issue further licence keys to it. Keys already issued expire on their own schedule.

If you believe takeovr is being used against you or in breach of this policy, write to support@cueovr.com. Tell us what happened and we will tell you honestly what we are and are not able to do about it.
